Monaco’s sporting director holds talks with Liverpool
Liverpool’s search for a new sporting director has reached France as Paul Mitchell, currently at Monaco, is said to have been in talks with the club.
Get French Football News reports that the Englishman – formerly the recruiting chief at MK Dons, Southampton, Tottenham and RB Leipzig – has been in talks with Liverpool who are currently trying to replace the outgoing Julian Ward.
It’s not the first time he’s been linked with the Reds, although that has been the case over the last month telegraph‘s Sam Wallace claimed the club “opted out” on appointing him.
Jurgen Klopp admitted news of Ward’s retirement in December came as a “surprise”.
Mitchell is also set to step down this year despite Monaco attempts to extend his contract and a move to Merseyside could mean the next step in the 41-year-old’s career.
