New Sporting Memories Club Launched in Bangor
A new Sporting Memories Club, allowing residents to reminisce about sporting events and sporting stars of yesteryear, will be held weekly at the Bwyd Da Café on Bangor High Street.
Bangor Sporting Memories Club is a collaboration between Bangor 1876 and Dementia Actif Gwynedd and is aimed primarily at older adults who enjoy company, those with dementia or other health conditions, or anyone who just wants to come along.
Sporting Memories groups include memories of sporting events and sports stars, as well as participation in games and quizzes.
Emma Quaeck of Dementia Actif Gwynedd explained: “Dementia Actif Gwynedd has been holding online meetings of Sporting Memories and currently runs a club in Nefyn.
“It’s a joy to see the impact remembering sporting events and sports stars can have on people. I’m always amazed how you can remember so many facts and data as well as all sorts of sporting little things.
“Once the topic of conversation is sparked, sports fans like nothing better than to step back in time to share happy memories and their faces can often be seen beaming. These events are social, entertaining and informative.”
The club is held every Monday from 3pm to 4.30pm at the Bwyd Da (275 High Street, Bangor). Sessions are free and generously supported by Watkin Property Ventures (WPV).
