NFL Combine invites 2023: Complete list of participants, workout times & more
The NFL Scouting Combine returned to near-normal over the past year, and the showcase is back in full force for 2023.
Hundreds of draft prospects will descend on Indianapolis for athletic tests, medical exams and interviews ahead of the April NFL draft to make a lasting impression on scouts and general managers.
While the significance of the Scouting Combine’s many tests has been debated for years, there’s no doubt that some prospects will see their stocks rise, while others will slide on their performance at Indianapolis.

NFL Combine 2023 invites
The NFL invited 319 prospects to Indianapolis, five fewer than last year.
The invitees are selected by the Combine’s Player Selection Committee, which is made up of directors of the national and BLESTO scouting services and members of various NFL player human resources departments.
According to the league, “all 32 NFL teams are invited to contribute draft-eligible players” before selection is made.

NFL Combine practice times
The NFL has put combine drills in a prime-time slot for the past few years, but the league pushed the schedule earlier in the day this year.
While practice will last a few hours, the first two days of action on the field will begin at 3:00 p.m. ET, while the weekend defenders, linebackers and defenders will all begin at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Of course, field exercises are only part of the evaluation process for teams. Prospects go through medical exams and interviews throughout the week, both of which can have a significant impact on their stocks in April.
Teams were warned last year to behave professionally and not to ask inappropriate questions when interviewing potential clients. Numerous players have told the media about bizarre questions that teams have asked them during the pre-design process over the years.
NFL Combination Exercises
The 40-yard dash is the NFL Scouting Combine’s premier event, but it’s only one of six drills teams consider and doesn’t account for the same skills as other drills.
The six drills are below.
- 40 meter dash
- tricone drill
- bench press
- 20 meter shuttle
- vertical jump
- long jump

The 40-yard dash explains a prospect’s sheer speed when running straight, while the 20-yard shuttle and three-cone drill force prospects to cut and run in different directions.
The bench press is the combine’s best measure of pure power, while the vertical jump and long jump account for both athleticism and leg strength.
