With blinds of $1,000/$2,000 and a big blind ante of $2,000, Persson opened the action with a $7,000 raise, holding the nine of hearts (Q9hh).
Rob Yong called from the button with ace-two (A2cc) before Antonius squeezed in to $30,000 with ace-king of hearts (AKhh) in the small blind.
Both Persson and Yong called.
With $94,000 in the pot, the flop came an eight of hearts, three of hearts, three of clubs (8h3h3c) – an action flop that saw both Antonius and Persson holding hearts.
Antonius continuation bets for $40,000 and Persson snap-raises to $140,000, Yong folds.
Persson is betting on the fact that Antonius can only have three hands with a better draw than his heart draw in this situation that would be depressing preflop – AKhh, AJhh and AThh.
With Antonius holding one of those hands, the Finn reraised Persson’s flop raise to $250,000 – and received a call that took the pot to $594,000.
The turn brings the ace of spades (8h3h3cAs) where Persson now hits dead against Antonius as his queen and nine no longer act out against pair and his flush draw beats.
Antonius leads the river with a small $150,000 bet and Persson snapjams his remaining $692,000 despite not having a chance of winning if the Finn calls.
Antonius knows he’s behind only a minimal combination of hands – a combination of pocket threes and two combinations of pocket eights, which Persson is extremely unlikely to play pocket aces in this way.
The Finn calls and has a shattered Persson dead – taking the $1.978 million pot.
It surpassed the previous US live stream record of $1.158 million on Hustler Casino Live.

The Antonius Persson hand took place in the No Gamble, No Future Clash of the Titans cash game streamed live on PokerGO.
There were six players involved – Patrik Antonius, Eric Persson, Rob Yong, Andrew Robl, Markus Gonsalves and Matthew “MJ” Gonzales – with a $1 million buy-in and $100,000 on the side.
Players had the choice of splitting their buy-in between two $500,000 balls or simply putting the $1 million on the table right away.
The blinds started at $500/$500 but gradually increased to $1,000/$2,000 over the three days with a $2,000 ante big blind – that was the status during the famous Antonius vs. Persson battle.
The $100,000 wagered by the six players generated a $600,000 jackpot which was awarded to the game’s biggest winner at the end of the game.
