They met on the opening day of the UEFA Nations League and now Portugal and Spain will end the group stage with a top-flight duel.
The teams are first and second in Group 2, with the Portuguese holding a two-point advantage over their neighbours. That means Tuesday’s game will decide which team advances to next year’s semi-finals.
“It’s a final and we’re going to go there to try and win it,” said Spain coach Luis Enrique.
Spain’s surprise 2-1 defeat by Switzerland on Saturday put Portugal firmly in the driving seat as Cristiano Ronaldo and company travel to Braga with a draw to qualify for the semi-finals. However, the hosts are not playing it safe on the last day of the game.
“Our goal would be the same, even if Spain hadn’t lost, we’ll try to win the game in Braga,” said Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot.
