PSG vs Nantes score, result and highlights as Messi gets goal, Kylian Mbappe sets record in 4-2 win

Kylian Mbappe eventually became PSG’s all-time all-time goalscorer as the defending Ligue 1 champions stormed to a 4-2 win over Nantes in Paris.

The Frenchman fired home his 201st club goal in added time to overtake Edinson Cavani and propel PSG 11 points clear in the title race in a thrilling evening at the Parc des Princes.

The hosts went 2-0 up early through Lionel Messi’s 799th career goal and a bizarre own goal from Nantes defender Jaouen Hadjam, but the visitors rallied before the break as Ludovic Blas and Ignatius Ganago pounced on a weak PSG defence .

After the restart, however, the game tipped back in PSG’s favor as Danilo Mbappe’s beautiful cross nodded home before the French star’s big moment came in the dying seconds.

PSG’s attention will quickly turn to Bayern Munich in the midweek Champions League as they look to recoup a first-leg home defeat in the round of 16, but tonight Mbappe belongs.

Mbappe and Messi fire Bayern warning in Paris

PSG coach Christopher Galtier resisted calls to rest his two star players against Nantes with such a brief turnaround ahead of their trip to Germany for Wednesday’s round of 16 second leg.

However, the gamble paid off, with a goal each and, more importantly, a big boost in confidence ahead of the exit to the Allianz Arena.

Messi struggled to make an impact in the first-leg defeat as a semi-fit Mbappe was only used in a late cameo last month and the pair will look to change the agenda at Bayern.

PSG have been knocked out in the round of 16 in four of the last six seasons, but a timely power play from Mbappe and Messi could be crucial as they look to avenge the 2020 Champions League final.
