Qatar’s embassies, consulates mark NSD with diverse activities
Qatar’s diplomatic, consular and representative missions abroad organized various sports activities on the occasion of the 12th edition of the National Sports Day (NSD) under the motto “The Choice is Yours”. In Brussels, the Qatari Representation to the European Union and NATO organized a sporting event attended by the Ambassador of Qatar to the European Union and Nato Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al-Malki, diplomatic staff, the military representative in the mission and local staff. The event included various outdoor sports activities, as well as competitions in one of the indoor gyms. Speaking on the occasion, Qatar’s Ambassador to the European Union and NATO welcomed Qatar’s announcement of an annual NSD and stressed the importance of practicing sport and its benefits for individuals and society. In London, the British Embassy of Qatar partnered with the organization Sisterhood FC, which aims to enable Muslim women to get involved in football activities. The fund will be used to cover the cost of football kits, stadium hire, development of outreach programs and communication to raise awareness of the organization among Muslim girls from across the UK and increase their involvement in football.Qatar’s Ambassador to UK Fahd bin Mohamed al-Attiyah attended a friendly football match between the embassy staff team and the organization’s team in the presence of diplomats, local staff, organization members, members of the media and Qatari students living in London. Various sporting activities were held at the Westway Sports Center including rock climbing, tennis, table tennis, volleyball and yoga. The Embassy also sponsored the annual Battersea Park Marathon of 5km and 10km, which attracted more than 500 runners. In Beijing, the Embassy of Qatar in China organized a sporting event to mark the country’s NSD at the Olympic Green in Chaoyang District, with the participation of Qatar’s Ambassador Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Dehaimi, diplomats and staff. The event included a variety of sporting activities including football matches, table tennis, running and others. In Canberra, the Embassy of Qatar in Australia organized a sporting event with the participation of Qatar’s Ambassador Saad bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud, diplomats and local staff. The event included various sporting activities. In Seoul, the Embassy of Qatar in Korea organized a sporting event attended by the Ambassador of Qatar, Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Hamer, diplomats and embassy staff, and ambassadors and diplomats from Arab embassies in Korea. The event, held at the multi-sports hall in Dongjak district, featured various sporting activities including volleyball and table tennis with the embassy staff. Acting embassy chargé d’affaires Jamal bin Abdul Rahman al-Jaber, speaking on the occasion, said that the NSD affirmed the state’s zeal in promoting a healthy lifestyle in society. In Spain, the Consulate General of Qatar in Barcelona organized a sporting event with the participation of the Consul General of Qatar in Barcelona Mohamed bin Sami al-Subaey, diplomats, local staff and their families. The event included a soccer game. In Manila, the Embassy of Qatar in the Philippines hosted a sporting event attended by Acting Chargé d’Affaires Mohamed bin Yousef al-Malki and Second Secretary of the Embassy Hassan Muhanna al-Ajmi, alongside local staff. The event included various sports activities such as football, volleyball, games and entertainment competitions. In Tehran, the Embassy of Qatar in Iran hosted a sporting event attended by diplomats and staff. In The Hague, the Embassy of Qatar in the Netherlands organized a sporting event for the occasion. Speaking at the occasion, Acting Chargé d’Affaires Hanadial-Shafei highlighted Qatar’s landmark announcement of a National Sports Day to highlight the importance of sport and its role in the lives of individuals and societies. In San Salvador, the Embassy of Qatar in El Salvador hosted a sporting event to mark the occasion. The event included various sports activities such as hiking, mountaineering and cycling. In Djibouti, the Embassy of Qatar held a sporting event to mark the occasion, with the participation of Acting Chargé d’Affaires Ibrahim bin Abdullah al-Shuraim and guests and embassy staff. The event included various sports activities such as soccer and hiking. In Bangkok, the Embassy of Qatar in Thailand hosted a sporting event at Panda FC, which was attended by members of the Embassy and the Qatar Medical Bureau. The event included physical exercises and a football match. In Yangon, the Embassy of Qatar in Myanmar organized a sporting event to mark the occasion with the participation of Acting Chargé d’Affaires Abdulaziz bin Yousuf Jolo and embassy staff. Activities at the event were varied and included football, basketball, badminton, table tennis and free running. In Dhaka, the Embassy of Qatar in Bangladesh organized a sporting event attended by diplomats and embassy officials. In Ashgabat, the Embassy of Qatar in Turkmenistan hosted a sporting event in the Olympic City attended by embassy staff and members of the Olympic City. The event included competitions in football, basketball, table tennis and running.
