Quebec 2022 election: How to register and how to vote

October 3rd is the big day. Here are some answers to your questions about voting in the Quebec provincial elections.

AM I ELIGIBLE TO VOTE?

To vote in provincial elections, you must be a Canadian citizen over the age of 18 who moved to Quebec no later than April 3, 2022.

You must be on the electoral roll for your county to cast your vote.

The deadline for online registration is 19 Sepbut you have bis 29 Sep Register in person at your Election Officer’s office (find the address here by scrolling down).

Remember: errors, delays and hiccups happen – the sooner you sign up, the better.

AM I REGISTERED TO VOTE?

Visit the Elections Quebec website and enter some basic information to see if you are already registered at your current address.

Remember that you cannot register or change your address on election day. Even if you think you’re ready, it’s important to double-check.

HOW DO I LOG ON?

If your name is not on the voters list in your country, you can change it through Elections Quebec by mail, fax, in person or online.

If registering by failing, fax or in person, obtain the application form here or contact your Election Officer (scroll down).

Whichever route you choose, be prepared to photocopy, scan, or upload a picture of supporting documents.

PROOF OF IDENTITY

This document must contain your full name and date of birth, e.g. e.g.:

  • Canadian passport
  • health card
  • driver’s license
  • Certificate of Canadian Citizenship
  • birth certificate
  • Canadian Forces Identification Card

PROOF OF ADDRESS

This document must contain your name and current address, e.g. e.g.:

  • driver’s license
  • hospital card
  • Rent
  • Telephone, electricity or internet bill
  • Personal check

HOW DO I CHOOSE?

You should receive a yellow reminder card and an acknowledgment of receipt giving your polling station address before October 3rd.

Tip: bring this card with you to vote! It will help you get to a booth faster.

A few days before Election Day on October 3, 2022, a yellow reminder card will be mailed to registered voters in Quebec. (Quebec elections)

When you go to the polling booth, be sure to bring the following with you:

  • Quebec driver’s license
  • health card
  • Canadian passport
  • Indian status map
  • Canadian Forces Identification Card

WHAT IF I’M OUT OF TOWN?

If you are out of province on October 3rd, you have until 14 Sept to register for the postal voting option.

You can also vote from home for health reasons, including COVID-19 isolation.

CAN I VOTE IN ADVANCE?

Yes! Pre-voting will take place on 25th of September and 26 Sept from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m

In addition, you can vote with your electoral officer on:

  • September 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m
  • September 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m
  • September 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m
  • September 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m
  • September 29, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m

WHO SHOULD I VOTE?

  • Coalition Avenir Québec (François Legault)
  • Parti Quebecois (Paul St-Pierre Plamondon)
  • Quebec Conservative Party (Éric Duhaime)
  • Quebec Liberal Party (Dominique Anglade)
  • Quebec Solidaire (Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois)
