NEW YORK, March 09, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Atari® – one of the world’s most recognized consumer brands and maker of interactive entertainment – today unveiled the next entry in its critically acclaimed company charged relay a message: Caves of Mars: Recharged.
Available now on PC via Steam and Epic Games, as well as PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One and Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. Caves of Mars: Recharged retains the retro roots and nostalgic charm of the original while embracing a fresh look and funky new soundtrack. Players control a spaceship and delve deep into the depths of Mars, where the environment is completely destructible and enemies are more than numerous.
As the captain of a fully armed starship, players will progress through 30 unique missions set in three primary “depths” of Mars. With both a challenge and arcade mode, you’ll dash furiously through swathes of enemies (and even the environment) and sink deeper into the depths of Mars. Be careful though, while the ship’s ammo is limited, the enemies certainly aren’t. Featuring a unique local co-op mode, players can team up with a partner assigned to navigate while the other player shoots an indestructible drone!

Stay consistent with the rest Atari charged Series, Caves of Mars: Recharged Includes a global leaderboard where players can compete for high scores, as well as an original soundtrack by award-winning artists and composer Megan McDuffee.

Destructible Environments: The environments in Caves of Mars: Recharged are fully destructible – don’t hesitate to blast obstacles on your way, but watch out for fuel reserves. Each shot consumes fuel, but fast travel grants time bonuses.

Two unique modes: Traverse the depths of Mars in three stages in Arcade Mode, strategically choosing upgrades and power-ups that make each run unique, or slide through 30 bite-sized levels in Challenge Mode

Naughty Power-Ups: Collect weapons that will change your strategy for tactical maneuvering on the fly. Break new ground with a well-aimed railgun shot, or let the spread of a shotgun do the talking!

Local cooperative: Share the responsibilities of navigating and shooting in exciting local co-op. Divide and conquer to make it to the center of Mars!
