Rihanna cast as voice of Smurfette in latest Smurf movie – KIRO 7 News Seattle

RiRi is the new voice of Smurfette in the upcoming movie The Smurfs, CNN reported.

Paramount Pictures announced the singer will be the voice of Smurfette during her panel at Thursday’s CinemaCon, where she made a surprise appearance, Variety reported.

“Doing animation is a fun journey for me,” Rihanna said. “I’m usually front and center on everything with my likeness… but that was fun I gotta imagine, I had to show up in my third trimester in my pajamas and be a blue [explicative]said Rihanna.

This is the fourth film in the The Smurfs series.

The original was released in 2011, starring Neil Patrick Harris in the human lead. Perry lent her voice to Smurfette. The sequel The Smurfs 2 was released in 2014, with Perry making a second attempt at being the original female Smurf among the Smurfs.

The third film – The Smurfs: The Lost Village – featured Lovato taking over Perry and was released in 2017.

Rihanna has acted in several movies and TV shows including Battleship and Ocean’s Eight, according to her IMDB profile.

In addition to voicing Smurfette, she will also write and record her own songs and be one of the producers, Variety reported.

The film will examine the identity and ask, “What is a Smurf?” reports the journal.

The new movie The Smurfs is slated to hit theaters on February 14, 2025, CNN reported.
