Scotland 2-0 Spain LIVE! McTominay goal – Match stream, latest score updates today from Euro 2024 qualifier

Scotland are looking for a big upset and beat Spain for the first time since 1984 when the two sides meet in a Euro 2024 qualifier at Hampden Park tonight. It has been more than ten years since they last faced each other, with Spain winning both games and eventually lifting the trophy en route to qualifying for Euro 2012.

Steve Clarke’s side made a successful start to qualifying this time, beating Cyprus 3-0 in their Group A opening game. Scott McTominay scored twice late in that win and that performance was enough to get him a start tonight. Lyndon Dykes leads the line.

Spain passed Norway last time out and it is now nine years since they last lost a European qualifier. They are big favorites to lead the group again and anything less than a win in Glasgow would be a huge shock. Follow all the action with Standard Sport’s LIVE blog below!

58 minutes: McGinn from the bar – Kepa climbed over and he’s very lucky!

And that’s as good as a goal. Space behind, Gaya cuts back and neither Aspas nor Pino can put away a shot. Eventually she falls for her, but Porteous brilliantly manages to get his body in the way.

56 minutes: Spain rattled. Once again. Porteous gives Pino a huge one, the Spaniard doesn’t like it at all and pushes him away.

And now Gaya gives away a completely unnecessary free kick. Another good position for the hosts.

Spanish change – Merino off, Aspas on.

54 minutes: Scotland are now flying into every challenge again, roared at by the crowd who can hardly believe what they are seeing.

McTominay earned his place in the squad after scoring twice last time out and he’s back in a brace here!

GOAL! Scotland 2-0 Spain | Scott McTominay 51′

HE DID IT AGAIN!

WOW. Tierney charges down the left wing, brilliant run after initially winning the ball.

His cutback is half cleared into the Spaniard’s box but McTominay runs towards it and produces a brilliant finish.

50 minutes: Tierney goes to center again, flank swings to where he would have been.

On his way to Christie on the edge of the box, he misses the first shot and misses for miles.

49 minutes: So poor of Gaya, flies far out and dives in as Christie gets his body over. Could see that coming from a mile away.

Free-kick Scotland in a really dangerous position, Gaya avoided a booking.

47 minutes: The early pattern was set. Scotland sits deep, Rodri gives room to try his luck from long range and he shoots straight at Gunn.

I already have the impression that it will be a long 45 minutes for the hosts. The crowd isn’t quite as involved now either, since Porro has been replaced.

On the road again!

Carvajal and Williams come on for Porro and Oyarzabal at the break. Hampden will be devastated to see Porro’s back.

The referee also changes due to a muscle injury. The captain is now the fourth official, with the four officials… the captain.

A reminder that Scotland have not beaten Spain since 1984. You are not used to being in this position!

The Spaniards haven’t lost a European Championship qualifier in nine years – this is new territory for them too.

A long, long way to go, but Scotland will smell a famous victory here.
