Royals can’t get enough of this summer shoe.
Even though the season is about to end, there’s still plenty of warm weather ahead to rock royally-approved espadrilles – and Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and Spain’s Queen Letizia (along with their daughters) all favor the simple, breezy shoe.
In fact, the 49-year-old Queen of Spain has worn a whopping 12 different styles of espadrilles in 15 appearances this year alone, according to the Royal Fashion Police Instagram account.
Letizia’s most recent outing was yesterday while she was with her husband, King Felipe VI, and daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia on holiday in Palma de Mallorca, Spain – and all three royal ladies took part in the espadrille action.
The queen looked cool in a loose white button-up shirt from Hugo Boss ($72, originally $239) and flat leather espadrilles ($170) from the brand, along with blue-and-white pinstriped shorts.
Meanwhile, her daughters wore summery fits and ankle-high platforms. Leonor, the future Queen of Spain, wore Macarena’s “Saura” style ($72) in beige with a ruffled pink dress from Mango, while her younger sister wore the same shoes in black with a funky floral dress from Sfera.
While the British royal family may not wear espadrilles quite as often as Letizia, we’ve spotted the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex sporting their own jute-trimmed wedges on many occasions over the years.
Both duchesses favor Spanish brand Castañer, with Markle, 41, sporting the black Carina 80-style wedges ($135) on four outings over the years, and Middleton, 40, often sporting Carinas in tonal browns with thinner ankle straps (originally $119). $195).
The Duchess of Cambridge has also been spotted in other brands of espadrilles, like a white Stella McCartney slip-on style she wore to Belize this spring, or the slingback Pied a Terre wedges that she often wore in her earlier years Marriage wore on, including the day Prince George was born.
If you’re hoping for that royal look, get ready to add it to your shopping cart as we’ve rounded up some of Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and Queen Letizia’s favorite wedges below.
