Sony’s latest mid-range headphones come with great sound, excellent battery life, and killer prices
It’s obviously no big secret that Sony is making some of these best high-end wireless bluetooth headphones money can buy in 2023, and considering what they bring to the table, state of the art WH-1000XM5’s aren’t even that expensive and usually cost a lot less than Apple’s AirPods Max for example.
Premium noise cancellation for only $150?!
That sounds hard to believe, we know, but the hot new Sony WH-CH720N is apparently set to use the exact same ‘onboard’ V1 chip as the aforementioned WH-1000XM5 to give it a ‘compared to the WH- to provide an enhanced noise canceling experience. CH710N was released back in 2020.
While we still strongly doubt that these over-ear midrange speakers can drown out your surroundings as well as their ultra-high-end ‘cousins’, Sony’s promises for the WH-CH720N certainly ring impressive.
In addition to this V1 processor, the list of features to maximize noise cancellation also includes Dual Noise Sensor technology. That should allow you to “enjoy more music and less background noise”, which is clearly the dream when it comes to these types of headphones.
Touted as Sony’s “lightest wireless noise-cancelling overhead headphones” at “roughly” 180 grams, these puppies should prove supremely comfortable to wear even for long periods thanks to a combination of faux leather and urethane materials, as well as the “optimal” earpad structure and dimensions .
Meet Sony’s new battery life champion!
Yes, the on-ear WH-CH520 should cost a whopping $60 per pair from “spring 2023”. And yes, these no-noise-cancelling bad guys bump up the battery life of their predecessors, the WH-CH510 and the aforementioned WH-CH720N, to an absolutely mind-blowing 50 hours.
That’s more than two full days (and two full nights) of non-stop music listening, and believe it or not, that music should play in very decent quality (considering the price) as the WH-CH520 and WH-CH720N equipped with the same Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) guarantees “high quality sound exactly as the artist intended”.
The two new products also share multipoint connectivity, and much like their pricier and higher-end ‘cousins’, the Sony WH-CH520 are said to be designed for all-day (and all-night) comfort, and feature an adjustable headband with padded, soft ear cushions and a lightweight (albeit without revealing the relevant details) design.
