Sporting goods, outdoor rec retailer expanding to Avon, Westfield – WISH-TV | Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather
(WUNSCH) – A Texas-based sporting goods and outdoor recreation retailer plans to open stores in Avon and Westfield in the fall.
According to its website, Academy Sports + Outdoors has Indiana locations in Evansville, Jeffersonville, Lafayette, and Terre Haute.
The Westfield store will be located in Village Park Plaza at the former site of Marsh Supermarkets just east of US 31 at East Greyhound Pass. The store will have an area of 75,000 square meters. According to the retailer, the locations together should create 120 jobs.
On June 28 at 4:00 p.m., customers will be invited to a US Flag Raising Ceremony at the Village Park Plaza Store.
The Avon store will be 60,000 square feet and will follow the Westfield store. The exact location of the Avon store was not immediately known from the retailer.
Services offered in the shops include free assembly of grills and bicycles, assembly of scopes, bore sighting, fishing line spooling and spooling, and the opportunity to purchase hunting and fishing licenses.
The Lafayette location is in the Lafayette Pavilions shopping mall, southwest of South Street and South Creasy Lane. This is about a mile west of the I-65 interchange to State Road 26.
The Terre Haute location is off US 41, approximately one mile south of the I-70 East Springhill Drive intersection.

Academy also announced in the press release that it has signed a multi-year deal to serve as a “proud partner of the Indianapolis Colts.”
