Sporting Lisbon’s Cristiano Ronaldo Tribute Kit “Just Another Money Grab”

To celebrate Cristiano Ronaldo’s 38th birthday on February 5, 2023, Sporting Lisbon released a special tribute box. Ronaldo started his professional football career in Sporting colors and the club has not forgotten his legacy. However, one fan wasn’t impressed. According to him, this is the case “Just Another Heist” Tactics.

The fan believes that Sporting Lisbon are just trying to make money by using Ronaldo’s name. But that’s just a fan theory. Other fans asked him how this was a money heist. One fan even mentioned that Ronaldo was made in Sporting.

Sporting announced on their official website that “On a special day, for a special athlete, a special gift: here is the Cristiano Ronaldo box.

A Limited Edition in honor of the best Portuguese player of all time, to celebrate the 21st anniversary of his official debut for the first team of Sporting Clube de Portugal.

Cristiano Ronaldo made his debut on August 14, 2002 in the third qualifying round of the Champions League against FC Inter Milan.

The Cristiano Ronaldo box contains a replica of the jersey he wore in his debut and an unprecedented book detailing his 7 years at Sporting CP’s youth academy, only to become CR7, the five-time FIFA Ballon d’Or winner and a living legend who has earned a place in history as one of the greatest players of all time.

An amazing life story, a true example of effort, dedication, devotion and glory.”

The tribute box is said to be available on their website and also in their stadium’s megastore. Ronaldo, who has recently been linked with a move back to Sporting, posed with the box on Sporting’s Twitter account.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a return to Sporting Lisbon amid the Manchester United unrest

Ronaldo was unhappy with Premier League club Manchester United. The fairytale return turned into tragedy and the Portuguese wanted to leave. It turns out he was planning to leave in the summer of 2022. However, his agent at the time, Jorge Mendes, was unable to get him a top club in Europe. In hindsight, this event caused problems between the player and the agent.

Among the names associated with Ronaldo at the time, Sporting Lisbon also appeared. Ronaldo, who has scored three goals in 25 games with Sporting, had eyed a possible return. In July, Hugo Viana, the Portuguese club’s sporting director, refused to rule out a future move, stating:

“He can choose where he goes. But you never know the future… so whatever he decides, let’s see.”

However, in October head coach Ruben Amorim stated that the club could not pay Ronaldo’s salary. With the $200 million a year deal Ronaldo has signed with Al-Nassr, Amorim’s words seem truer than ever.
