Stanbic IBTC Trustees, a subsidiary of Stanbic IBTC Holdings in partnership with the Lagos State Government and the Sports Global Ambassadors Program, recently sponsored the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace with a three day event.
The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, also known as World Sport Day, is a United Nations initiative celebrated on April 6 each year to promote social cohesion, peaceful coexistence and the Sustainable Development Goals through sport support financially.
The three-day event included multiple sporting activities, a health lecture, a first aid drug demonstration, a debate exploring the power of sport in youth development and conflict resolution, and an awards ceremony.
Emi Agaba-Oloja, Executive Director, Stanbic IBTC Trustees, pointed out the central role of sporting activities in sustainable economic development and as such the financial institution is passionate about supporting the sector and driving its growth.

Emi enlightened the audience on the differences between savings and investments and showed practical examples through a bouquet of products within the Stanbic IBTC Group.

It has the power to promote social cohesion and healthy living; That’s why we decided to partner with the Sports Global Ambassadors Program for this year’s event.” According to Emi, the event provided a unique opportunity to connect with the youth of Lagos State.
Ndidi Edeoghon, Executive Director, Sports Global Ambassadors, and Executive Trustee, Ambassadors Initiative of Youth Development and Conflict Resolution, recognized the Stanbic IBTC Trustees for their contribution to the promotion and development of sport in Lagos State and said the sponsorship shows active promotion of social inclusion, diversity and peaceful coexistence in our society and hopes to continue working with the financial institution to improve the accessibility of sport in the state.
