The Preserve Sporting Club Partners with Celebrity Chef David Burke

Celebrity chef David Burke is making his mark in Rhode Island next Wednesday, March 1st by opening a new restaurantHe Keep the sports club and residences in Richmond. Chef Burke has signed a 15-year partnership with the 3,500-acre four-season athletic club and is overhauling the Preserve’s culinary operations through his restaurant operations and consulting firm, David Burke Hospitality Management (DBHM).

The main restaurant, Double Barrel Kitchen, has been converted into this Double Barrel Steak by Chef David Burke. It will welcome both public guests and private club members in the 7,000-square-foot, 350-seat space, which is slated to open on Wednesday, March 1st. Burke currently has a total of eighteen restaurants, a historic venue and a bakery David Burke Hospitality Management with another Red Horse by David Burke opening this month in White Plains, New York.

The Double Barrel Steak’s menu focuses on modern American steakhouse-inspired cuisine, but it will also emphasize seafood with “ocean steaks” of swordfish, halibut and tuna. The team dry-ages beef on-site using Burke’s patent US 7,998,517 B2 Himalayan Salt Process. Burke will also introduce Ocean Staters and visitors to his signature swordfish cutlets, which were first introduced at New York’s Park Avenue Café in the early 1990s. As the reserve is known for its outdoor sports experiences, game will also feature on the menu in creative, seasonal dishes.

Reserve amenities include an 18-hole golf course, tennis, zip-lining, mountain biking, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, a rock climbing wall, and ten fly-fishing ponds. The Preserve is also a target shooting facility with skeet shooting and an automated indoor shooting range. There’s also a luxury on-site spa, as well as accommodation options including single-family homes, townhouses, and more.

Preserve Chairman Paul Mihailides is thrilled to announce the new partnership between the Preserve and Burke. “There is no greater compliment than Chef Burke’s willingness to lead our culinary programs,” Mihailides said in a statement sent to Rhode Island Monthly. “We look forward to welcoming our Preserve members and guests to enjoy Chef Burke’s renowned styles.”

The décor inside the Double Barrel Steak also pays homage to the Preserve’s outdoor ambience. Original animal and horse artwork is on display in the dining room next to a Himalayan salt wall. IIn addition to the Double Barrel Steak, David Burke’s team will also oversee the Maker’s Mark Hobbit Houses, which will offer a bourbon-infused experience, as well as the Cohiba and Laphroaig Safari Tasting Tent, which will pair Scotch and cigars with finger foods.
