Tower of Fantasy: How to Play With a Controller

tower of fantasy is the latest anime-style open-world RPG craze sweeping the World Wide Web right now. While some gamers are content playing the game with a keyboard on a PC or touchscreen input on their phone, some (like me) prefer playing action games with controllers. Thank God, tower of fantasy is a “plug and play” game and natively supports controller options on both PC and mobile Android and iOS versions; Here’s how you can play the game with a controller.

How to play Tower of Fantasy with a controller

personal computer

tower of fantasy supports Xinput Controllers ready to use, which means that all Xbox controllers – Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S – are immediately recognized by the game. Most 3rd party controllers now use Xinput so all you have to do is plug your controller directly into the USB port or connect it to a bluetooth/wireless dongle.

If you’re using PS4/PS5 controllers (DualShock 4 and DualSense), however, you’ll need to download third-party software called DS4Windows first. Since Sony’s products do not support Xinput, you need DS4Windows to convert the controller’s input to Xinput. This is also why the game is currently only able to display Xbox controller button prompts.

Android and iOS

Mobile users are in luck too. The Android and iOS versions also support Bluetooth controllers (like PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S), so all you have to do is grab one, connect it via your phone’s settings menu and you’re good to go. Here’s how you can do it:

Connecting a Bluetooth controller to an Android device:

  • Turn on Bluetooth
  • Open settings
  • Tap Connected devices
  • Tap Connection Settings
  • Select Bluetooth
  • Select Pair new device
  • Tap the controller you want to connect to

To connect a Bluetooth controller to an iOS device:

  • Open settings
  • Tap on the Bluetooth option
  • Tap the controller you want to connect to

Pairing any type of controller for Bluetooth connectivity:

  • Dualshock 4: Press and hold the PS button and the SHARE button at the same time until the light bar starts flashing.
  • DualSense: Hold down the PS button and the Create button until the light bar starts blinking.
  • Xbox One: Press and hold the sync button near the USB-C connector until the Xbox button starts blinking.
  • Xbox Series X|S: Press and hold the sync button near the USB-C port until the Xbox button starts blinking.

However, note that at the time of writing tower of fantasy does not support Controller input when navigating through Menus and Tabs. You will again need to use a keyboard or touchscreen to access the in-game menus. But as seen in the controller menu, there’s a “Coming Soon” button, which might indicate that developer Hotta Studio is working on suitable keyboard shortcut options. Still, PC gamers have the option to rebind keystrokes via third-party software such as DS4Windows and AntiMicroX, among others.
