Triton Poker Vietnam 2023: 50,000 Turbo results, champion, leaderboard, prizemoney

Jason Koon has already cemented his place as one of the top tournament players in the world. He added to his legend by winning the 50,000 Turbo No Limit Hold’Em event at the Super High Roller Series in Hoi An for 574,000.

With the win, Koon became the first player in Triton history to secure five titles on the tour.

Koon took an early chip lead and steadily added to his stack throughout the day. He won a 369,000 pot against Ike Haxton when he defended his big blind with 63 offsuit, flopped trips and filled on the turn.

This big hand gave Koon a stack of 150BB, which he carefully maneuvered to become the first player with a million chips. He never looked back and used that stack to maneuver past the other players in the tournament.

Stephen Chidwick became the first player to be eliminated from the final table in ninth place. Chidwick maintained a small stack most of the day and eventually woke up with pocket jacks. But Chris Brewer had pocket queens in the big blind and Chidwick’s day was cruelly ended.

Danny Tang was the next player to bust. Tang doubled early in the day but couldn’t get past that 2x starting stack. He got his money preflop with the ace-jack offsuit and couldn’t improve against Mirzikinian Warwick’s ace-king offsuit.

Sixth place went to Dan Smith, who fired two shots into the action. Smith built some momentum in the middle of the tournament, but he went into the final table with his original starting stack and jammed the small blind with pocket fives. He was called by Chris Brewer in the big blind with king-jack offsuit and Smith’s pair was faked on a two pair board.

Warwick was the bubble boy of the tournament. He jammed his ace-king offsuit and was called by Brewer, who was dominated with ace-eight offsuit. Both players flopped an ace and an eight on the turn gave Warwick the bad beat elimination.

Isaac Haxton was the first player in the money in fifth. Haxton raised his pocket eights under the gun and called a 15 BB jam from Artur Martirosian in the big blind. Martirosian had queen-nine and turned a queen to send Haxton home.

The eliminations came to Haxton in a flurry. Punnat Punsri and Chris Brewer took fourth and third place respectively. A brief heads-up fight with Martirosian resulted in Koon taking the win.
