Trump news today: Ivanka distances herself from family legal woes as Hope Hicks meets Manhattan prosecutors
Donald Trump promises to stay in the 2024 race if prosecuted
Donald Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, has asked to bring the $250 million fraud lawsuit filed against her, her brothers, her father and her family’s real estate company of the same name.
Her attorneys argue that the fraud lawsuit filed last year “does not contain a single allegation that Ms. Trump directly or indirectly prepared, prepared, reviewed, or certified any of her father’s financial statements.”
“Other people were responsible for those tasks,” they added.
In news about Mr Trump’s other legal troubles, it emerged that his former assistant, Hope Hicks, had met with Manhattan prosecutors to investigate the former president’s alleged hush money payments to adult movie star Stormy Daniels.
The former White House communications director visited Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s office Monday with her attorneys. This comes as prosecutors intensify their longstanding investigation into payments made to Daniels in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.
Meanwhile, Mr Trump praised Fox News host Tucker Carlson for airing footage of the Jan. 6 Capitol riots that misrepresented it as a peaceful trial. He has called for the indictment of the House of Representatives committee investigating the attack on Congress.
Votes: Why Donald Trump’s CPAC speech proves he’s a problem for the GOP
In his keynote CPAC speech, Donald Trump has demonstrated once again why his leadership of the Republican Party has resulted in one election loss after another. His rambling speech was unlikely to appeal to anyone not already firmly entrenched in the Conservative bubble. Most of the time, when he did come up with a coherent statement, it was a vicious attack on his Republican rivals.

Fox libel defense at odds with key opponents of GOP presidency
Fox News is on an unlikely collision course with two leading contenders for the Republican presidential nomination over journalists’ rights.
In its defense against a massive defamation lawsuit over false claims surrounding the 2020 presidential election, the network is relying on a nearly 60-year-old Supreme Court ruling that makes it difficult to successfully sue media organizations for defamation.
Former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, two favorites of many Fox News viewers, have lobbied for the court to review the standard considered a fundamental case in America’s defamation law.

6 January rioters on the run after removing ankle monitors
The FBI is looking for two Capitol riot suspects after they disappear.
A Florida woman disappeared before she was due to appear in court on Monday after being charged in connection with her actions during the riot in Washington, DC on January 6, 2021, when supporters of former President Donald Trump tried to block Congress forcibly preventing President Joe from certifying Biden’s 2020 election victory.
Last week, a federal judge in Washington issued bank warrants arresting Joseph Hutchinson III and Olivia Pollock after it was revealed they tampered with or removed the ankle monitors used to track them, according to the Associated Press.

Voices: Why Kevin McCarthy really gave Tucker Carlson the January 6th videos
The conservative movement and right-wing media never really trusted Kevin McCarthy. They often see him as a chameleon with no real ideology who changed as his party changed. In fact, Mr. Carlson said privately last year that Mr. McCarthy “sounds like an MSNBC employee” and called him “a Dem party puppet” after the New York Times published transcripts of his conversations with the GOP leadership of the House of Representatives after the Jan. 6 riot.
