This Sunday, October 2, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a rematch of Super Bowl LV Tom Brady received his seventh ring. Sunday’s matchup marks the sixth meeting between Patrick Mahomes and Brady, with the 45-year veteran holding a 3-2 lead in the series.

Kansas City chiefs
Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs (2-1) suffered their first loss of the season last Sunday after losing 20-17 to the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium last Sunday. Kansas City struggled offensively in Week 3 as the team only had three points in the second half. The Chiefs are still working to fill the gap in passing since trading star WR Tyreek Hill against the Dolphins in the offseason, but Mahomes says that doesn’t excuse Sunday’s loss.

“I’m not expecting growing pains,” Mahomes told reporters on ESPN.com. “Obviously you have new players and you don’t know that everyone will react to difficult situations. . . . We all have to stick together. It starts with me There were certain shots that I put on the guys back hips instead of in front of him. There were situations where we just barely got away.”
Mahomes, who signed a 10-year, $450 million contract extension in July 2020 — the richest contract by aggregate value in American esports history — is in his fifth season as the Chiefs’ starting quarterback and hopes to sign Kansas City for the seventh time to lead consecutive AFC West titles. The Chiefs are the only team to have won six consecutive AFC West titles, making it the third-longest division title streak of any team in NFL history.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Brady and the Buccaneers (2-1) also conceded their first loss of the season – a 14-12 home loss Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers last Sunday afternoon. With WR Mike Evans (suspension) and Chris Godwin (hamstring) – Brady’s two main targets – and Julio Jones (knee) in Week 3, Tampa Bay’s offense totaled just 285 yards in loss. In addition, the team is still adjusting for the turnover in the WR and TE positions from this off-season. Despite some challenges on offense, Tampa Bay’s defense has remained consistent and currently leads the NFL in scoring defense (9.0 points/gm) and also ranks in the top 5 in total defense.
