UC Football Announces Latest Transfers

CINCINNATI – Highlighted by three outstanding wide receivers, Cincinnati Football announced the addition of eight transfers on Tuesday.

Head Coach Scott Satterfield and his team recently welcomed receivers Xzavier Henderson (Florida), Braden Smith (Louisville) and Aaron Turner (UConn) to the program, as well as offense lineman Deondre Buford (Kentucky), defensive lineman Jalen Hunt (Michigan State), defensive end Kyree Moyston (Virginia Tech), linebacker Dion Hunter (New Mexico) and defensive back George Udo (BYU).

Henderson and Turner led their previous teams in receptions last season and will work with Smith to bolster a pass-catching corps that brought back just one letter winner from the 2022 roster.

Cincinnati also previously announced the addition of wide receivers Dee Wiggins (Louisville), Donovan Ollie (Washington), Sterling Berkhalter (North Carolina AT&T).

“I’m excited to officially welcome our newest Bearcats to the University of Cincinnati and our football program,” Satterfield said. “This group of talented young men will immediately make us better. They bring much-needed experience to both offense and defense of the ball and will improve many of our positional spaces, particularly our receiver group. Led by Satterfield and returning third-team defensive lineman for the Associated Press All-Americans Dontay Corleone and suitor Mason Fletcher, Cincinnati Football is gearing up for one of the most exciting seasons in school history this fall. The Bearcats will enter the Big 12 on July 1, hosting seven games at Nippert Stadium.

Short biographies of Cincinnati’s latest signings:

OL Deondre Buford

Buford appeared in all 13 games for Kentucky in 2022 and caught action with two starts at both the guard and tackle positions. After his redshirt appearance in 2020, he featured in two games in 2021.

WR Xzavier Henderson

Henderson led Florida with 38 receptions in 2022 while totaling 410 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He appeared in 35 games and recorded 73 catches for 835 yards and five touchdowns with the Gators from 2020-22.

DT Jalen Hunt

Hunt played 23 games with five starts on the defensive line for Michigan State from 2020-2022, and had 19 tackles and 2.0 TFLs after being redshirted in 2019. Despite missing five games in 2022, Hunt started three contests on defense and participated in seven contests with nine tackles and a quarterback urgent. He also earned starts in defensive tackle for the Spartans in 2021 and 2020.

LB Dion Hunter

Hunter played in 25 games as a linebacker for New Mexico from 2020-2022, where he totaled 115 tackles and 5.5 TFLs. Hunter finished fourth on the team with 69 tackles in 2022, despite missing the first three competitions of the season. He was chosen to carry the Lobos’ retired No. 42 in each of the last two seasons.

EN Kyree Moyston

Moyston played four defensive end games for Virginia Tech in 2022 and recorded one tackle and .5 TFLs last season after being deployed as a redshirt in 2021.

WR Braden Smith

Smith played in 29 games as a wide receiver and kick specialist for Louisville, where he had 59 receptions for 653 yards and two touchdowns from 2020-2022 after transferring from Northwest Mississippi Community College in Flowood, Mississippi. He also averaged 141 return yards The Cardinals’ top punter return last season. Smith had 11 receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown, plus a 49-yard punt for a score and a 45-yard touchdown on a trick play for the Cardinals before suffering an injury in 2021.

WR Aaron Turner

Turner appeared in all 25 games for UCONN from 2021-22, totaling 90 receptions for 759 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to 75 other yards on the ground. He led the Huskies in receptions, his second straight season with team-best catches, yards and touchdowns in 2022, and finished with 57 catches for 527 yards and three scores after catching 33 for 232 yards in 2021 had.

DB George Udo

Udo played 37 four-start games in BYU’s secondary school from 2019-2022, where he totaled 44 tackles, 6.0 TFLs, three sacks and two pass breakups. In 2022, he spent time as both a safety and cornerback, finishing the game with 13 tackles and a pass break while seeing the field in all 13 games. Udo recorded his best season for the Cougars in 2020 with 25 tackles, 5.5 TFLs and three sacks.
