US Open 2022: How to watch, seeds, schedule, scores, results for the final Grand Slam of the season

The US Open 2022 is just around the corner and while this year’s tournament will lack some stars, Flushing Meadows is not short of interesting storylines.

Defending champion Emma Raducanu competes as number 11 for women. But of course, the main story revolves around Serena Williams, as this is likely to be the veteran tennis player’s last Grand Slam tournament before her retirement.

Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, is entering her 21st unseeded US Open. She takes on Danka Kovinic — an opponent she’s never faced before — for their first-round matchup. If Williams beats Kovinic, she could face No. 2 Anett Kontaveit in the following round. Older sister Venus Williams is too She returns with a wildcard entry. She faces Alison Van Uytvanck on Monday.

In the men’s world No. 1 Daniil Medvedev won the 2021 tournament and will try to defend his No. 1 title this year. A few key players will be absent, including Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev. Djokovic officially announced this on Thursday will miss the tournament due to his COVID-19 vaccine status. The United States currently allows unvaccinated foreign nationals to enter the country. Zverev has been out since June when he sustained an ankle injury in the French Open semifinals against Rafael Nadal.

Nadal who withdrew from Wimbledon ahead of his semi-final match against Nick Kyrgios through injury, is back and ready to compete in New York.
