United States: defender Reggie gun will miss the game with a groin strain. After the team’s performance against Japan, the need for a positive result grew, but Berhalter didn’t lose the external stress.

“It’s a young team and at the moment, in the last camp before the World Cup, there is stress and external factors that are affecting performance,” said Berhalter. “I think we should at least acknowledge that and say that the lads were tense in that game. And it’s our job as coaches to put their minds at ease and help them perform and that’s what we’re focusing on.”

Berhalter needs to make sure he picks a team that can handle that pressure ahead of this game because the last thing a young side needs is a bad result for two months. To name a friendly you must win might be overstating it, but it’s certainly crucial to get a positive result in Spain in terms of chemistry and momentum.
