Variety Week 2022 showcases how to help children across B.C. – BC
Variety, the children’s charity, is kicking off another Variety Week, taking place October 17-21.
Throughout the week, Global BC will showcase the work Variety is doing to serve children with special needs and their families in BC’s diverse communities. Global News viewers will hear stories from children Variety has supported and see first-hand how their lives have evolved because of Variety’s help.
“With the rising cost of basic necessities, including groceries, gas and housing, families are really feeling the pinch right now,” said Josh Pasnak, interim CEO of Variety BC. “But history has shown that British Columbians come together in difficult times, which is why we are confident that with their generous support, along with that of our matching sponsors, we will be able to help even more children across the province.”
How to donate
Donations can be made online, by calling 310-KIDS toll-free, or by texting “KIDS” to 45678 to automatically make a $20 contribution.
“I continue to be amazed at the resilience of the incredible children and families whose stories we share during Variety Week, and equally humbled by how generously Global BC viewers donate every time,” said Bhupinder Hundal, news director and channel executive Global BC. “The support goes a long way in helping some of the province’s most vulnerable.”
Viewers will see how Variety has expanded its funding to now include psychoeducational assessments, making them the only charity to fund private assessments since they began funding autism assessments last year. Also featured is the launch of the Variety Schools Program, which highlights one elementary school already participating in the groundbreaking initiative.
Last year’s Variety Week brought in $2,148,793.
