What you should know

The Arizona Wildcats have been down 5-0 to the Washington Huskies since October 2015, but they have a chance to close the gap a little on Saturday. Arizona and Washington will face off in a Pac-12 match at 5:30 p.m. ET at Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium. Both teams lost in their last game, so they have enough motivation to get the “W”.

The Wildcats were expected to have a tough time last week, and that’s exactly what happened. They landed on the wrong side of a painful 49-22 shot at the Oregon Ducks’ hands. Arizona was down 49-16 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. A bright spot for them was the play of RB DJ Williams, who scored a quick touchdown. That touchdown — a 52-yard rush in the second quarter — was one of the highlights of the contest.

Special teams accumulated ten points for Arizona. K Tyler Loop delivered a perfect 3v3 match.

Meanwhile, Washington scored first but ultimately less than the Arizona State Sun Devils in their matchup last week. The Huskies posted a 45-38 hit in the losing column. This was hardly the outcome they or their fans were betting on as they were favored over ASU in that game by 13.5 points. Washington’s loss came despite a good play from RB Cameron Davis, who scored three quick touchdowns. Davis struggled to find his footing against the UCLA Bruins two weeks ago, so this was a step in the right direction. Davis’ sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown up for the season.

Losses put the Wildcats 3-3 and the Huskies 4-2. A few offensive stats to keep in mind as you watch: Arizona comes into play at an average of 323.5 passing yards per game, good for the 10th-best in the nation. But Washington does even better: They rank second nationally in passing yards per game, averaging 357.3. We’ll see if that advantage gives Washington a path to victory.
