WBC chief impressed by Qatar’s sporting infrastructure

World Boxing Council (WBC) President Mauricio Sulaiman has praised Qatar’s sporting infrastructure and said the country has the potential to produce a world champion in the future. Sulaiman made the remarks during his visit to Qatar, where he was greeted by Sheikh Fahad bin Khaled al-Thani, President of the Qatar Boxing Federation (QBF). The WBC President visited the 3-2-1 Sports Museum, located in the Aspire Zone. “This is a very impressive sports museum. I think it is essential for any sports fan to visit the 3-2-1 Sports Museum. It’s really a wonderful place for sports lovers,” Sulaiman said during his visit. “The museum is amazing,” he added. He was later guided through the Aspire Academy, the largest athletic facility in the world. “I believe that the athletes and players in the Mena region can benefit immensely from attending Aspire Academy. It is a sports center in the truest sense of the word. I’m impressed with my visit to Aspire Academy,” said the WBC President. The QBC President was accompanied by the QBF President to the sports clubs in Doha where he met with boxing communities in Qatar. The visiting delegate was impressed with the boxing facility in Qatar in general. With more participation and improved technical know-how, Qatar can have its world champion in 5-6 years,” said the WBC President in his remarks. “The WBC is tremendously supportive of boxing growth in the Mena region. Score. It was always the vision of the late President Mr. Jose Sulaiman who was always looking for different ways to develop the sport in the Mena region. A ME title was recently established. It will be a great platform for Arab boxers to blaze a trail of excellence and potentially become world champions,” he added. “I like the boxing passion in Qatar. I thank QBF President Sheikh Fahad bin Khaled al-Thani for hosting me and showing me Qatar’s great sporting venues,” he said. The QBF President thanked the WBC chief for his visit to Qatar. “We are honored to have the WBC President in Qatar. We hope to welcome him back to one of our boxing championships in the future,” said Sheikh Fahad. “We are grateful to the WBC President for his kind remarks on Qatar’s sporting excellence.” The WBC President visited Doha during his GCC tour, where he recently attended the Jake Paul-Tommy Fury boxing match in Saudi Arabia.
