‘We’ll see’ – Burnley latest on injured players Beyer, Benson & Rodriguez ahead of Millwall clash
Vincent Kompany is unsure if he will have any of Burnley’s injured players available for the upcoming trip to Millwall amid a packed fixture schedule.
The Clarets returned to winning ways on the road to Luton Town yesterday afternoon. Ashley Barnes fired home from the penalty spot in the second half as Burnley took three points in a hard-fought encounter against the Hatters.
Nathan Tella walked away in the win with a leg problem after an hour. There’s potential for it to be just a spasm, but with games coming fast and fast and a quick turnaround ahead of the Den encounter, Kompany is unsure the Southampton loanee will be available.

Players like defender Jordan Beyer, winger Manuel Benson and forward Jay Rodriguez were absent from the win. Beyer walked away injured in last week’s tie with Watford, although it’s not a serious problem and won’t be out for long, but the Clarets are wary of bringing him back in a packed fixture list.
Benson and Rodriguez are also progressing well with their recoveries and are both ready to return anytime soon, but no game has been set for them to return. Kompany is unsure if there will be any returnees for the trip to the Lions as his focus now shifts to the challenge Gary Rowett’s side will pose after his team endured the test Luton put to them has.
He said LancsLive: “I don’t know [if any injured players will be back for Millwall]. It’s in 48 hours so I don’t know. We’re back on the train in a minute going back to London so I don’t know if we’ve done any miracles up in Burnley in the meantime – we’ll see.
“I think this game [vs Luton] is a bit in a category of its own, it’s just good to have the win because there’s always the extremes. You can play really well against Swansea and Norwich and Watford and then they say, ‘Can you go to Luton and do it too?’
“Those kinds of wins are extremely valuable because no matter what happens from now until the end of the season, you can always go back to it and say, ‘Look guys, this is what we have to do and we can do it.’
“It’s good because we’ll undoubtedly have another Test against Millwall on Tuesday. We don’t want to play anyone else’s game, but we want to make sure we’re up for those kinds of challenges and we enjoyed it too.”
