What time is UFC 284 today? PPV schedule, main card start time for Islam Makhachev vs. Alexander Volkanovski

History could be made at UFC 284 as Alexander Volkanovski attempts to become just the fifth doubles champion in UFC history on February 11. Competing in front of family and friends in his backyard, the Australian faces a tough challenge in UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.

The fight for Makhachev’s lightweight title will be held at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.

Makhachev is on a 12-fight win streak and has gone 13-1 since joining the UFC in 2015. The 31-year-old has 11 wins by assist and the least significant shots (.95) per minute in the UFC -History absorbed. Makhachev recently beat Charles Oliveira in October to capture the then-vacant UFC lightweight title.

The champion will go into this fight with no known face. Former champion Khabib Numagomedov will not be in his corner for the fight as he seeks to move away from MMA. However, they made a game plan for the Volkanovski fight ahead of Khabib’s absence.

Volkanovski, the UFC Featherweight Champion, has won all 12 fights in the UFC. He beat Max Holloway for the title in 2019 and has defended the belt four times. He now wants to challenge himself in the lightweight class.

On the ground, Makhachev is a dangerous fighter. Volkanovski is a powerful striker. Something has to be given. The latter broke down how he thinks the fight will go, telling The AllStar his skills can outlast Makhachev’s offensive skills.

“I think it’s going to be more of a standup fight,” Volkanovski said of MMA News. “Obviously with my movement and all that, he’s going to shoot earlier… he’s going to be a little bit uncomfortable with the timing that I have and all that stuff…

“The first round will be a bit more of a fight I think with clinches and all that stuff. Maybe a little more chaotic. And then the second lap, I think it’s going to be more on his feet and I’m going to put my hands on him… but I’m preparing for five laps and bad positions… and so I feel like I’m going to get the finish .”
