The UFC bantamweight division is as strong as ever. On August 13, two fighters ranked outside the top four will attempt to make a big impact within the division.
Eighth seed Dominick Cruz meets fifth seed Marlon Vera at Pechanga Arena in San Diego.
Cruz, 36, is a two-time UFC Bantamweight Champion and WEC Bantamweight Champion. One of the most dynamic fighters of all time, Cruz had a 13-fight win streak from 2008 to 2016 but suffered multiple injuries during that time.
After losing to Cody Garbrandt in 2016, it wasn’t until 2020 that Cruz returned. He lost to Henry Cejudo. Since then, Cruz has won twice in a row.
Vera is on a three-fight win streak. After losing to Jose Aldo in 2020, he has won in impressive fashion against Davey Grant, Frankie Edgar and Rob Font. “Chito” is 13-6 since joining the UFC in 2014.

UFC San Diego takes place on Saturday, August 13th. The preliminary rounds will start at 4:00 p.m. ET, while the main round will take place at 7:00 p.m. ET. Vera and Cruz were scheduled to make their way to the Octagon around 10:15 p.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.
