When is the NHL 23 release date? Cost, new features, editions & everything else to know in 2022

Get your controllers ready because NHL 23 will be coming to a console near you in the coming weeks.

EA Sports’ latest NHL game has been unveiled, with the cover release set to be released on Wednesday and the game’s details on Thursday.

The game has added some new features for users, including cross-console play, which has been one of the biggest user requests for a while. It allows players on an Xbox to play against someone with a PlayStation, which wasn’t previously available.

Additionally, users can add female players to their Hockey Ultimate Teams as members of the female national team are included in this mode.

The Sporting News reveals what you need to know about NHL 23:

Release date of NHL 23

  • Date: Friday October 14th

NHL 23 will release around the video game’s typical launch date – mid-October, before the start of the season.

  • PS4, Xbox One: $59.99 (Standard Edition)
  • PS5, Xbox Series S/X: $69.99 (Standard Edition)

The standard edition for next-gen consoles costs the usual $69.99, with last-gen consoles and PCs being $10 cheaper and costing $59.99.

NHL 23 new features

Cross-platform matchmaking

The biggest change for NHL 23 is one that has been consistently requested by fans – cross-platform play. This will allow PlayStation and Xbox players to compete against each other, which was previously not possible.

This cross-platform matchmaking only occurs in Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) and World of Chel. It is expected to be available in a November update of the game.

Hockey Ultimate Team

A few additions and changes to get to HUT. The biggest is that for the first time ever, IIHF Women’s National Team members will be available to purchase and use in the HUT roster.

HUT will also have rotating game themes playable in HUT Rivals, and HUT Rivals will offer three additional tiers of rewards.

NHL 23 Coverage

This year’s NHL 23 cover features two cover athletes, one of whom made history as the first-ever female hockey player to appear on the cover of an NHL video game.

Ducks’ Trevor Zegras and Canada Women’s National Team’s Sarah Nurse are the two players on this year’s cover.

What consoles will NHL 23 run on?

The following consoles have a version of NHL 23:

  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series X
  • Xbox Series S

NHL 23 remains only available on consoles and not on PC.

NHL 23 Standard Edition vs X Factor Edition

NHL 23 offers two different editions that fans can purchase: the Standard Edition and the X-Factor Edition.

The Standard Edition costs $59.99 for last-gen consoles and $69.99 for next-gen consoles.

The X-Factor Edition costs $99.99 but allows the user to access the game three days before the pre-release date. It also comes with the following:
