Where is Vic Rauter? Why longtime TSN curling commentator is missing from 2023 Scotties matches
The 2023 Scotties begins today in Kamloops, meaning the voice of Canadian curling is making a return.
Longtime TSN curling play-by-play announcer Vic Rauter is back in the dressing room this week as the Canadian Women’s Curling Championship begins.
Rauter has been part of TSN’s curling coverage for over 25 years. The Scotties are the first in a series of domestic and international tournaments he will cover this spring, including the Tim Horton Brier and the World Curling Championships.

However, Rauter will not be in the dressing room for every game with the Scotties. The Sporting News has more details on why Rauter is absent from select shows.
Where is Vic Rauter?
Rauter will be in the dressing room for the Scotties in 2023, but he won’t be the play-by-play voice for every game.
Bryan Mudryk will share the responsibilities with Rauter. Mudryk has usually played the morning sessions, while Rauter is there for the afternoon and evening games.
Russ Howard is expected to be Rauter’s pair on the mic, which has been the case for TSN’s coverage in previous years. Cathy Gauther returns as an analyst and Joanne Courtney makes her TSN debut at the 2023 Scotties and joins the crew as an analyst.
