Who will win the FA Cup? Odds and predictions for Man City, Man United, and every team in 2023 Round of 16

The FA Cup is a knockout competition where anything can happen over the course of 90 minutes.

The tournament is often referred to as “magical” because fun things can happen and surprises are part of the competition.

However, in the Premier League era (since 1992), a team outside the ‘Big Six’ has only won the FA Cup four times, meaning that in the end it is usually the strongest clubs that come out on top and lift the trophy. In fact, no lower division club has won the FA Cup since West Ham in 1980.

That could all change in the 2023 competition, which has reached the round of 16. Of the 16 teams remaining, only three ‘Big Six’ clubs remain in Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham, while almost half the field (7) is made up of lower division sides.

Who will come out on top in this year’s competition? The sports news contains all the details, including a pick to win, as well as a dark horse pick if you want to avoid the favourites.

Odds of winning the FA Cup 2023

Manchester City are still in the hunt after beating their main opponents Arsenal in the preliminary round, as are arch-rivals Manchester United. These two bitter foes are the top favorites to win the competition while other top four contenders Tottenham sit in third place.

Other Premier League sides remaining in the competition include Fulham, Brighton, Leicester City, West Ham, Leeds and Southampton. However, only a maximum of seven can advance to the quarterfinals, as at least two will be eliminated in this round thanks to the draw of two high-profile matchups.

Minnows still alive include League One contenders Fleetwood Town and League Two team Grimsby Town.

Who will win the FA Cup in 2023?

Man City have already shown they can beat the best teams in the league when they knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup in the fourth round. Although City have yet to show this season that they can consistently win on days when they aren’t at their best, they are still one of the best sides in the league.

It’s entirely possible they will have to face another in-form juggernaut in Man United, which would make a delicious derby affair in the later rounds of this competition, but at the moment Man City are slowly returning to their best and it will be difficult to get in to look past the favorites in this competition.

It’s 43 years since a lower-league team has won the FA Cup, but if there’s ever a chance it’s now. Burnley are absolutely dominating the Championship this season and have a 12-point lead at the top of the table at the start of March.

Of course we all know that the competition against Premier League competition is well above the level of the lower echelons, but this Clarets side is well above the league level. And for knockout competition they don’t need to beat Premier League teams over a long season, just a couple of games where anything can happen. They have already knocked Bournemouth out of the FA Cup and put in an admirable performance against Manchester United in the fourth round of the EFL Cup, in a game where they beat their Premier League opponents 11-10 but struggled to finish come opportunities.

If Fulham started Bernd Leno in cup competition the Whites would be the pick here at 20/1 but as Marek Rodak – who is a good goalkeeper but is not in the same stratosphere as 2022/23 Leno – is the guy for the Cottagers Outside of league play, the championship leaders are a great selection between 30/1 and 40/1.
