Who won the NBA All-Star 3-Point Contest? Live scores, results, highlights from 2023 All-Star Weekend

The 3-point contest at NBA All-Star Saturday Night 2023 did not disappoint.

As in previous years, the 2023 competition featured eight contestants in two rounds, with the top three contestants from the first round advancing to the final.

After a big man took the crown last year, Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard clinched the 3-point competitive title for the first time in his career, claiming the win with a final-round score of 26, beating Buddy Hield and Tyrese ousted Haliburton.

The Sporting News followed live scores, results and highlights from the second event of All-Star Saturday Night.

21:36 — Damian Lillard takes it home! With a final round score of 26, Lillard becomes the first player in Trail Blazers history to win the 3-point contest.

As a treat, Lillard wears a Weber State uniform and takes home the 3-point competitive hardware less than an hour from his college.

21:33 — What pressure is Damian Lillard under?

Lillard sinks every one of his last four shots and ends up in the final with 26 points, beating Buddy Hield by one point.

Tyrese Haliburton will be the last to leave.

21:30 — After submitting the lowest score in Round 1, Buddy Hield is the first contestant to advance to the finals.

Hield gets hot late and gives up a score of 25, putting pressure on the next two finalists.

Next up will be Damian Lillard.

21:25 — The finals are set.

Damian Lillard, wearing his college uniform, finishes in the top three with a score of 26, the second highest of the night. Lillard (26), Tyrese Haliburton (31) and Buddy Hield (23) will be fighting for the 3-point crown.

21:13 — We’re halfway through the first round and Tyler Herro is out with 16 points.

Jayson Tatum is close with 19 points and Tyrese Haliburton leads with 31 points. As a reminder, the top three results will advance to the final.

Four candidates still have to go.

21:09 — Tyrese Haliburton was the second contestant to leave, and he set a high bar by scoring 31 points in the first round, due in large part to his six of seven money balls and his two “starry range” shots met.

Haliburton essentially secured a spot in the finals.

When does the NBA All-Star 3-Point Contest start?

  • Date: Saturday February 19th
  • Time: 8 p.m. ET | 5 p.m. PT

The 3-Point Contest is the second event of All-Star Saturday Night at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City. It begins upon completion of the Skills Challenge, which begins at 8:00 p.m. ET.

NBA All-Star 3-Point Tournament Format

The eight competitors in the 3-point competition shoot at the typical five locations along the arc using four stands with four regular balls (one point) and one money ball (two points) and a special stand with five money balls. Players can choose their favorite spots for the money ball racks.

Two “Starry Range” spots are well past the 3-point line. Each point contains a cue ball worth three points.

The competition is divided into two rounds, with the three players with the most points from the first round advancing to the final round. The player with the highest score in the final round is crowned the winner.
