Israel will be represented at the second consecutive World Baseball Classic.

The team’s 2023 roster includes several MLB players, but none has more notoriety than Giants outfielder Joc Pederson. Pederson, who was born in Palo Alto, California, did not play for Israel when they finished sixth at the 2017 WBC.

Orioles pitcher Dean Kremer is also on the team. Braves ace Max Fried will not field for Israel despite being eligible. He said last July that the timing of the WBC would make it difficult for him to attend.

“It was definitely a thought,” Fried said of playing in the WBC, per Archy Sport. “But I haven’t really thought about it that much. I feel like it’s a bit difficult because of the time because it’s pre-season.”

Apparently, Fried wanted to prioritize his start to the season.
