Why Joe Buck and Troy Aikman aren’t calling Super Bowl 57 for Fox
Joe Buck and Troy Aikman have been Super Bowl mainstays at Fox since they first called Super Bowl 39 in 2005 and took over the reins from legendary duo Pat Summerall and John Madden.
The duo have declared six Super Bowls together and, despite the often mixed reception of their calls, have become one of the most well-known tandems on the airwaves.
However, over time, Buck and Aikman have grown in popularity. That might make it a little more confusing as to why they won’t be calling Super Bowl 57 on Fox. Instead, Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen will be at the microphones.
The answer is simple: Buck and Aikman no longer work for Fox. They were poached from ESPN ahead of the 2022 season to bring some big flair back to pre-season Monday Night Football.
On Sunday, Burkhardt and Olsen will compete for the first time in what is probably the biggest event in American sport.

Why aren’t Joe Buck and Troy Aikman calling Super Bowl 57 for Fox?
Buck and Aikman were courted by Fox ahead of ESPN’s 2022 season to become the voices of “Monday Night Football.”
Buck reportedly makes between $12 and $15 million a year for ESPN, while Aikman is in the $18.5 million range. These are premium rates for their services. Fox reportedly offered Buck $12 million to stay on the network.
As for Buck, he doesn’t sweat a year that he hasn’t called the Super Bowl for Fox.
“I’m proud of the consistency,” Buck said of his six Super Bowls, according to the New York Post. “But as for the total, I won’t think about it when I take my last breath. I learned this from my dad (Jack) and following his career learned at a young age that this business isn’t always fair.
Buck is called five by Al Michael’s and Summerall’s record 11 Super Bowls – he is currently tied with Jim Nantz with 5 Super Bowls under his belt. Once the NFL’s new broadcast deal goes into effect in 2024, Buck will have more opportunities to call the Super Bowl as ABC joins Fox, CBS, and NBC’s rotation.
His first Super Bowl for ABC will be in 2027, the fourth year of the new contract.
Who is calling for Super Bowl 57?
Fox’s new A-Team will be calling Super Bowl 57 for at least this season.
It consists of Kevin Burkhardt, Greg Olsen, Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi. Olsen has become an NFL fan favorite this postseason, with his sharp analysis being noticed in the playoffs.
Olsen’s future as Fox’s senior broadcaster is still up in the air as Tom Brady is ready to join Fox as a future senior analyst.
This will be Burkhardt and Olsen’s first Super Bowl together and first at Fox without Buck and Aikman since 2002.
