A $250,000 investment was allocated to the East Winnipeg Sports Association through the Parks and Recreation Enhancement Program to improve ballfield drainage along with other infrastructure improvements.

“An investment in the park for these Games will allow the athletes to compete in a world-class facility while leaving a legacy that the people of Transcona can use and enjoy for years to come,” said Edwards.

Buhler Recreation Park covers 170 acres and is a regular destination for sporting events in Winnipeg.

“Leaving investments in our local sports facilities for the next generation is an important segment that Transcona residents will be proud of. As Buhler does not receive ongoing support as a regional park, this investment will provide a much-needed injection to improve a beautiful facility in our community,” said Transcona Coun. Shawn Nason.
