Copa Sudamericana group stage draw 2023: Results, teams, and fixtures schedule for all 32 clubs

The Copa Sudamericana field for 2023 is set and the group stage was known after the draw on March 17th.

The second club competition in South America after the Copa Libertadores – the UEFA Europa League’s equivalent of the Champions League in Europe – the Copa Sudamericana enters its 22nd edition and has become a coveted silverware for clubs.

Ecuadorian team Independiente del Valle won the tournament in 2022 and this year they fight in the Copa Libertadores, which means we won’t have a repeat champion. There are several top clubs that can replace them as Copa Sudamericana holders, including seven from Brazil and seven from Argentina.

In a format change from previous editions, only the winner of each Copa Sudamericana group is guaranteed a place in the round of 16. The second-place teams have to play against the third-place teams of the Copa Libertadores group in a playoff stage.
