A family of four, including a three-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, who were found dead in a west London flat on Friday, have been named as police launch a murder investigation.

The bodies of Michal Wlodarczyk, 39, Monika Wlodarczyk, 35, Maja Wlodarczyk, 11, and Dawid Wlodarczyk, 3, were discovered after officers forced their way into a house in Staines Road, Bedfont, Hounslow.

They were called after reports of concerns about the people living there.

A man who lives next door said the incident involved a family who were “normal neighbors”.

He said: “I came home from work and there were police everywhere. It was really busy. That doesn’t happen here.”

Investigations are underway to officially identify the four people and inform their next of kin, the Metropolitan Police said.

Police are not currently looking for anyone in connection with the incident.

What the police said

West London Police Commander-in-Chief Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson said at the scene: “I believe we know who they are – four members of the same family – however urgent inquiries are ongoing to locate and inform their next of kin. and that would be the case.” It is inappropriate for me to name them at this time.

“Now autopsies are being ordered.”

He previously said: “Our investigation is at a very early stage and based on our initial investigations we are not currently seeking anyone connected to the incident.”

“I know the shock and sadness this horrific incident will bring to the community in Hounslow and beyond. I can assure the people on the ground that specialized officials are working to find out exactly what happened and I will provide more information as soon as possible.

“I also realize that this incident will be particularly distressing for children and I ask people to be responsible about what they post on social media and also not to name or speculate on those who have died .

“There will be additional police in the area over the weekend. I urge anyone with information or concerns to speak to these officials.”

Police are not seeking anyone else in connection with any deaths other than named victims

The Metropolitan Police said on Saturday that the bodies were thought to be Michal Wlodarczyk, 39, Monika Wlodarczyk, 35, Maja Wlodarczyk, 11, and Dawid Wlodarczyk, three, although formal identification is still pending.

Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley said: “I would like to reassure the community that specialist crime investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic incident and we will provide further updates as soon as possible.” Our thoughts are with everyone who are affected by what happened.

“Our investigation is at an early stage and the situation remains that we are not currently seeking anyone in connection with the incident.

“However, we remain open-minded and I would urge anyone who feels they have relevant information to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

What local residents said

A man who lives next door and asked not to be named told reporters: “They were just regular neighbors — we just said hello here and there, stuff like that.”

“I came home from work and there were police everywhere. It was really busy. That doesn’t happen here.

“I have no idea what happened.”

Naresh Regmi, 49, who lives nearby, said: “Police were here yesterday with forensic investigations and working on the property.

“We didn’t know the people who lived there – maybe they were new to the area?”

What is known about what happened?

A three-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl have been found dead in a west London flat along with two family members.

Metropolitan Police officers forcibly entered the home in Staines Road, Bedfont, Hounslow, just after 3pm on Friday after being called about family concerns.

They found four bodies, a man and a woman, both in their 30s, an 11-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy.

Family “kept to themselves,” says woman laying flowers

A woman who laid flowers at the Hounslow scene said the family who lived in the house were Eastern Europeans and “kept to themselves”.

Michelle Cunningham, 49, who lives nearby, said: “I thought I’d come and lay flowers after hearing what happened. It is so sad.

“They were an Eastern European family that kept to themselves. Sometimes I saw the man in front of his house.

“I didn’t know their names or much about what happened – I only heard about it last night.”
