What does the R&D laboratory offer?
The R&D laboratory offers the following advantages:
Internet: Provides access to research MMOs and codename: GRID.
Hardware: Grants much-needed access to the hardware labs. This is an essential step in creating the studio’s own game console.
MMO: Provides access to research into massively multiplayer online gaming technology that can later be used when creating a new game engine.
Codename: GRID: Players of the game would know that the PC market share is not much compared to the other game consoles. However, researching and unlocking the GRID increases PC market share and provides a small monthly income.
Conventions: These are a marketing tool for any new games that need to be marketed. Instead of waiting for the G3 conventions, players can organize their own personal convention to promote the current game in production or those already in stock. It should be noted that the options are only unlocked after the 23rd year or when the player’s game studio reaches 1 million fans.
AAA: After research, players will get access to the development of 3D Graphics V6 and 3D Graphics V7. However, there are some requirements that must be met in order to unlock the above. Players would need to have researched and unlocked the latest 3D Graphics V5 and a game with the same score and an average score of 9.
License Game Engines: Unlocks the “Software Development Kit” research as part of the Game Engine Development Kit. This helps players to lease/sell the license of the new (/old) game engines developed in the studio for an additional monthly income. However, the options are unlocked only after the game studio builds 10 unique engines.
Marketing campaign: Assists in running a massive marketing campaign for every AAA game currently in development at the game studio.
How do you get the R&D lab?
In order to unlock the R&D labs, certain achievements must be achieved.
- The player’s game studio should have a cumulative net worth of 10 million.
- The game communicates the requirements and the need for a design specialist. The Design Specialist can either be trained or hired from the market.
- To have a design specialist, a team member should have over 700 design points in the core attributes. In this way, the player can train the staff to become “design specialists”. After completing the design specialist training (for 100 research points), they are promoted to design specialist.
Once the above requirements are met, the game will notify the player to get the research lab. at a price of course!
