Growing up, playing with toy cars and building unique tracks for them to race on was great. With Hot Wheels unleashedthe developers wanted to give players a similar feeling of being able to race these cool vehicles and also create tracks to showcase them on.
Of course, building the tracks can also be a lot of fun Hot Wheels unleashed offers a wealth of tools to use as set pieces for the track and various environments. But there are some who just want to race on the custom tracks and there are a few steps that need to be taken in order to do that.
Where can I find custom tracks?
Upon launching the game, players will see two different ways to navigate the menu. First, there’s a list of options that runs vertically, including campaign mode and multiplayer. Then there is a list of options in the top left to navigate through. Those who want to search for custom tracks should go to “Track Builder”. Select “Community Tracks” here.
From here, players can browse all custom tracks in the All menu. To search for the most popular custom tracks, visit the Most Likes tab, which focuses on the most popular tracks of all time. Most Liked Weekly and Most Liked Monthly look at the most popular titles over a much shorter period of time, especially more recently.
To save a track before it potentially disappears from Popular tabs, players can click the button on the bottom left of the screen that says “Add to Favorite Tracks”. This will add the course for people under that profile to use in the Favorites tab. Remember that these routes can be difficult and will lead to many mistakes.
How to play custom tracks
The current options for playing the custom tracks are limited to just a few modes. For those playing single player, the only way to experience the course is to go to “Quick Modes” in the menu at the top of the main screen and select “Time Attack”.
Once players are in this mode on the course selection screen, they will see a button pointing to “Community Courses” in the bottom left. This will bring up every custom track available in the game, including a favorites section. This mode allows the driver to race around the track without other racers and just try to get the best time on the track.
Those who wish to play a track with multiple people must do so online. Those who happen to be playing with others will see custom tracks appear as possible options before a race. However, those running private lobbies can choose from their community tracks if they wish by following the same process on the course selection screen.
Currently there is no way to do single player quick races or local multiplayer split screen races using the custom tracks. It is currently unknown if this will be included in a future update.
Hot Wheels unleashed is available now for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
