How to qualify for trampoline at Paris 2024. The Olympics qualification system explained
Trampolining is a breathtaking sport that sees athletes leap over 8 meters in the air performing a series of complex twists and somersaults. Because it is a highly technical sport, trampoline players are required to have an exceptional sense of balance and absolute precision.
Compared to the other gymnastic sports, trampoline is a relative newcomer and made its debut at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, where both men’s and women’s competitions were introduced. Since then, the number of events has remained unchanged.
at Paris 2024, 32 athletes will compete in two events. Find out how to qualify for the trampoline in Paris 2024.

How many athletes will compete on the trampoline in Paris 2024?
A total of 32 athletes, 16 per gender, will take part in the Paris 2024 trampoline competitions. One quota for both sexes will be allocated to the host country and another to the Universality seat.
A maximum of three NOKs per gender can receive two quota places. The remaining NOKs will receive a maximum of one quota place per gender.
All participating athletes must be born on or before December 31, 2007.
What is the trampoline qualification path for Paris 2024?
The quota places are awarded based on three criteria;
Criterion 1: World Cup 2023 (November 2023)
- Women: Minimum 4 athletes, maximum 8 athletes
- Men: Minimum 4 athletes, maximum 8 athletes
The top eight ranked male and eight top ranked female athletes, based on the results of the Finals, each qualify for a quota spot for their NOC, with a maximum of one athlete per NOC.
If two athletes from the same NOC participate in the Finals, the highest ranked athlete according to the qualifying round will be considered for Criterion 1.
Criterion 2: 2023 and 2024 Trampoline Individual World Cup Series (February 2023 – April 2024)
- Women: Minimum 2 athletes, maximum 12 athletes
- Men: Minimum 2 athletes, maximum 12 athletes
During this period, five World Cup competitions will be held. The three best results from the five disciplines are taken into account, regardless of the number of competitions in which the athletes have participated.
The top-ranked male and female athletes based on the Olympic qualification rankings will receive a quota place for their NOK with a maximum of one per NOK provided their NOK did not qualify in Criterion 1.
The top three athletes on the Olympic qualification ranking list may qualify for a second quota place for their NOC provided their NOC has qualified in Criterion 1.
An athlete who has received a quota place for their NOC via Criterion 1 may participate but will not receive an additional quota place for their NOC.
Criterion 3: Continental Championships (or other FIG-sanctioned continental qualifying events)
- Total: Maximum 4 athletes
The top male or top female athlete, based on the results of the finals of each continental championship, qualifies for a quota spot for their NOC, provided the continent has not already qualified under criteria 1 or 2. A continental championship will only be referred to as a qualifying event if the continent has not qualified for a quota place by criteria 1 or 2.

Trampoline athletes to watch at Paris 2024
Since trampoline was first included in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games program, Chinese athletes have won 14 of the 36 available medals. Also in 2024 their trampoline jumpers will shine again in Paris.
Tokyo 2020 Gold Medalist Zhu Xueying of the People’s Republic of China will try to defend their title, but it won’t be an easy road as Olympic history teaches us only one athlete, Canada’s Rosie MacLennan, has ever won gold in a row. She will face stiff competition, including from rising Chinese stars Cao Yunzhuwho took silver at the 2021 World Championships at the age of 17.
The winner at the World Championships was a two-time Olympic medalist Bryony side from Great Britain. The 31-year-old also won a stage at this year’s World Championships Doihata Chisato of Japan and Cheyenne Sarah Webster from the USA, and she also won the 2022 European Trampoline Championships.
After the retirement of the Chinese four-time Olympic champion dong dong, Nishioka Ryusei of Japan and Diogo Abreu from Portugal have performed well at the 2022 World Cup for men – notably the 18-year-old Japanese star who won silver at the 2021 World Cup.
The current world champion Yan Langyu of the People’s Republic of China and bronze medalist of Tokyo 2020 Dylan Schmidt New Zealand’s should also be kept in mind.
