How to release negativity on Blood Moon on October 9
What is special about October 9th and why should you mark the date? Astronomically, it is the Hunter’s Moon / Blood Moon on October 9, 2022, when the Sun in Libra confronts the Moon in Aries, promising powerful solutions in the face of ongoing confrontations and emotional challenges. This full moon is also significant as it facilitates culmination, release and resolution of a stressful situation. The Libra mood is always meant to serve peace and justice, but it comes with a lot of thought. The full moon in crucial Aries promises to get us there faster than we think.
What is Hunter’s Moon?
“At the beginning of the second half of the year, a time of festivities and celebrations, we have an intense full moon. Also known as the Blood Moon/Hunter Moon as it means you must make drastic changes to bring your desires to life,” Astrologer and meditation coach Urvi Shrimanker. Although the focus is on yourself, also be prepared for some romance to be brewing.
Shrimankar mentions that the changes in the energy of the moon this time are transformative and healing, bringing a promise of immense courage to take action to make your dreams come true. Essentially, the full moon is about deliverance and the new moon is about affirmations. Following are some lunar rituals you need to practice on October 9th to break free from stuck situations and invite flow into your work and love life.
Let go, don’t manifest
A full moon is not a time to manifest. Instead, it’s time to let go of emotions that make you uncomfortable and anxious – light a candle on your desk. Write down everything you want to let go of on paper. Read the list twice so the words can absorb, fold the paper and burn it on the candle flame. You can bury the ashes in the ground or let them flow down the drain.
Clean up your space
This Hunter’s Moon / Blood Moon is dedicated to tidying up your space—whether that’s your closet, skincare shelf, or desk. When a deep cleanse overwhelms you, remove nine things that no longer serve you to symbolically make room for what you want to flow into your life. “On this full moon, get rid of all the things that are now redundant. Once you’ve cleaned up your space, place a bowl of salt in the corners of your home to absorb negative emotions,” says Shrimankar.
Draw a salt bath
Treat yourself to a saltwater bath at night on this full moon. Take a fistful of rock salt and dissolve it in a bucket of water. Alternatively, you can make a salt scrub at home by mixing salt with coconut or jojoba oil and gently scrubbing your body in light circular motions. It eliminates toxins, relaxes muscles and loosens stiff joints. It’s an antidote to those annoying, nagging stress-related pains.
Ground yourself
During Hunter’s Moon/Blood Moon you will also feel a heightened sense of fear and resentment at things that are not going well despite your best efforts. To calm the mind: work on the body. Go for a long walk, preferably barefoot, on the beach or on the grass. The focus should not be on walking pace or burning calories; instead, slow down and watch your breath. Try to consciously register the nature of the ground (water, grass or sand) under your feet. Connecting with nature is one of the quickest and most effective ways to address inner insecurities.
