How to Transfer Contacts From Android to iPhone in 4 Ways

  • You can transfer contacts from Android phone to iPhone in several ways, all of which are free.

Transitioning from an Android phone to an iPhone can be challenging — unlike upgrading from one Android device to another (or iPhone to iPhone), there isn’t a single, seamless, one-click transfer process.

But it’s not particularly difficult either. There are a handful of ways to transfer contacts from an Android device to an iPhone, depending on whether you’re setting up a new iPhone or just want to move a few contacts to an existing iPhone.

Here are four ways to move your contacts from an Android phone to an iPhone.

How to transfer contacts from Android to iPhone using Move to iOS app

Apple developed Move to iOS app to help you transfer your phone data from Android to new iPhone. The process copies all your data including contacts, calendar, photos and email accounts.

1. Install the Move to iOS app on your Android device.

2. Follow the setup process on your new iPhone until you reach that apps & data Screen.

3. Choose Move data from Android.

4. Open the Move to iOS app on your Android.

5. Beat Continue on both devices and agree to the terms of service in Move to iOS, then tap Next.

6. In the Move to iOS app, enter the code shown on the iPhone.

7. Follow the prompts to complete the transfer.

How to transfer contacts from Android to iPhone by syncing a Google account

This is a great option if you keep your Android contacts on a Google account. It works with both a new iPhone and one that’s already set up. All you have to do is add your Android device’s Google account information to iPhone.

1. On the iPhone, open the settings apartment

2. Beat post and then accounts

3. Beat Add account and then tap Google.

4. Follow the instructions to add your Google account to iPhone. It automatically syncs all your Google information including contacts.

How to transfer contacts from Android to iPhone using a VCF file

This is a great option if some of your contacts aren’t in a Google account so you can’t easily sync accounts, or if you only want to transfer a few contacts.

1. On your Android phone, open the contacts apartment

2. Tap the three dots at the top right of the screen to open the menu, then tap Split.

3. Select the contacts you want to transfer.

4. When you’re done, tap Split.

Choose which contacts you want to send to your iPhone, then tap Share.

5. If you only selected one contact, you must select it VCF file. If you have multiple contacts selected, VCF is your only choice.

6. Choose how you want to transfer the VCF file to your iPhone and send the file.

7. On iPhone, open the VCF file and add the contacts to your iPhone.

How to transfer contacts from Android to iPhone using a SIM card

You may also be able to use your Android device’s SIM card as a transfer device to copy contacts. However, this might be the least convenient solution as you have to physically swap SIM cards between phones.

1. On your Android phone, open the contacts apartment

2. Tap the three horizontal lines (aka the hamburger menu).

3. Beat manage contacts.

4. On the Manage Contacts page, tap Import/Export Contacts.

5. Beat export.

6. Choose where to export the contacts to – tap SIM card.

7. Choose which contacts you want to export. Beat All or tap the contacts one by one and then tap Finished.

8th. Beat export. You may need to confirm this choice.

9. Remove the SIM card from the Android phone and insert it into the iPhone.

10 On the iPhone, open the settings apartment

11. Beat contacts.

12. Beat Import SIM card contacts.

Once you put the SIM card in your iPhone, you can import the contact to iCloud or a Google account.

13. Select the account where you want to save the contacts.
