Five years after the Oscar-winning I, Tonya, the same creative team returns with another take on a controversial athlete character. This time it’s Tyson, played by Moonlight star Trevante Rhodes, who narrates the events of this multi-faceted character’s life in a series of flashbacks.

From a tumultuous childhood and multiple arrests to being adopted by legendary trainer Cus D’Amato (played by Harvey Keitel), there’s no shortage of drama. Expect retribution for 1997’s infamous “bite fight,” the toxic aftermath of his marriage to Robin Givens (Laura Harrier, BlacKkKlansman) — who described their relationship as “pure hell” — and the joy of being the youngest person to die ever won a heavyweight championship.

And Tyson isn’t the only larger-than-life personality featured here: Greg Kaston plays political activist and Baptist pastor Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Russell Hornsby (Creed II) stars as notorious boxing promoter Don King.
