One of UFC’s rising welterweight stars meets a division veteran in the main event of UFC 279 as Khamzat Chimaev prepares to fight Nate Diaz.

Chimaev is unbeaten in 11 games with 10 wins coming by knockout or submission. Chimaev won by decision in his last fight, a clash with Gilbert Burns in April 2022 that left both fighters bloodied and earned Fight of the Night honors at UFC 273.

Diaz was once one of the UFC’s biggest welterweight stars, giving Conor McGregor his first UFC loss in 2016 before losing by decision in a rematch. However, Diaz has only fought three times in the last five years, including back-to-back losses to Jorge Masvidal and current champion Leon Edwards.
