Jakub Kiwior set to make debut vs Sporting Lisbon

Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior will reportedly make his senior debut for the club in tonight’s UEFA Europa League against Sporting Lisbon.

According to Polish journalist Adam Szala, the 23-year-old centre-back will be in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI tonight when Arsenal take on Sporting in the Portuguese capital, with Kiwior finally set to play his first senior minutes for the Gunners in the January window.

The Poland international made a surprise move to Arsenal from Serie A’s Spezia in the winter, with the Gunners reportedly paying £20million. However, given the importance each Premier League game has had for Arteta’s side, Kiwior has yet to play a single minute of senior football.

That’s not to say the north London defender’s career is over before it even begins, however, as Arteta is a huge Kiwior fan himself and the Basque manager even dubbed the former Spezia star after his arrival in England in January as ” unbelievable”.
