Jon Jones and fiancee relationship timeline with Jessie Moses comes full circle at UFC 285

Jon Jones made a triumphant return at UFC 285, passing Ciryl Gane in the first round to capture the UFC Heavyweight Title. It was a brand-dominant performance for Jones, who, despite not having fought in over three years, looked the part of a still-best GOAT through and through.

Perhaps the outcome of UFC 285 will prove itself as a legacy-shaping moment both in and out of the ring.

An inescapable story arc for Jones is the considerable amount of time he’s spent in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. His time away from competition was riddled with legal troubles and controversy, ending with his longtime partner leaving him.

Shortly after becoming the new UFC Heavyweight Champion at UFC 285 and re-entering mainstream MMA discourse, here we take a look back at the timeline of events leading up to his highly publicized breakup and fall in disgrace.

Is Jon Jones Married?

Jones and Jessie Moses met in high school in New York and were in a relationship for almost 20 years. The two have three daughters together, but are not married.

Jones and Moses began dating in the early 2000s and became engaged in 2013.

In September 2021, Jones was arrested and charged with misdemeanor, domestic violence, and injuring or tampering with a vehicle. The incident happened the same night Jones was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

Jones was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence against Moses. A security guard at Caesars Palace noticed that Moses had a bloody lip and blood on her clothing. She later said in a statement that Jones got physical with her in front of her children. He was later released and did not appeal a charge of the offense of destroying property.

Immediately after the incident, Jones hit his head on a police officer’s car, leaving a “moderate dent” and some paint on the vehicle.

Jones posted a video of the two together afterwards, indicating that everything was fine.

Body cam footage of the incident was released in February 2022. In a now-deleted tweet, Jones stated that Moses left him shortly thereafter.

Every rumor about their reconciliation was confirmed after defeating Gane.

In an Instagram post during fight week, Jones also thanked his “beautiful fiancé” while sharing a picture from his gym preparing for his return to UFC 285.

In an interview with Michael Bisping, Adam Catterall and Nick Beet, where they discussed how he viewed Ciryl Gane at the UFC 285 press conference, Jones hinted that she was in Las Vegas in support and in the front row but not by name .

Sure enough, Moses sat by the cage on his return and immediately joined Jones in the octagon after the biggest win of his career. Jones also thanked his fiancé during his post-fight interview.

“I want to thank my beautiful fiancé, Jessie, for being my greatest support,” Jones said. “I love you so much – my biggest supporter.”

On an ESPN post-fight show, Jones apparently admitted his turbulent past in an interview with host Michael, who brought up “run-ins with the police, including here in Las Vegas.”

“We all have our pasts and we thank God for making me the man I am today,” Jones said. “My family and I are doing better than ever. I thank God so much for using me to make other people see that none of us are perfect and that despite your downfall, the sky is the limit for those who don’t give up, for those who know how you get down on your knees and pray. And I thank God for this platform. It means the world to me.”
