Manchester United transfer news LIVE Andre Onana latest as Man Utd target second summer signing

All members of the Manchester United squad are now back in Carrington after the international players returned for the pre-season on Saturday.

Those who had already returned had taken part in a 2-0 win over Leeds at the start of the summer fixtures last Wednesday. United’s second friendly takes place in Scotland this Wednesday against Lyon.

Then there is a trip to the USA and Erik ten Hag has to name his squad for the trip. There could potentially be some interesting omissions as the manager looks to downsize his squad.

Such departures would drive up the fee for new signings, including a new striker. Rasmus Hojlund has been in talks and is said to be interested in a move.

Meanwhile, at the end of the pitch, Andre Onana’s arrival is getting closer and closer. It remains a race against time to get him before the trip to the US.

Andre Onana is “awaiting permission” to fly to England and complete the move to United

It seems only a matter of time before Andre Onana becomes the second signing of the summer.

Italian reporter Alfredo Pedulla claims Inter want to finalize the deal by tonight while Onana is now simply awaiting permission to fly to England.

It is believed United will pay around €48m to €50m as a base fee, with surcharges in the deal that could increase the fee to €55m.

‘West Ham are targeting Maguire’s move on loan’

West Ham could make a move for Harry Maguire this summer.

The Telegraph claim that following the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal, the London side will look to strengthen their squad with a change of United captaincy.

It is believed West Ham will make Maguire a loan offer, although United would prefer a permanent sale.

Interest from Saudi Arabia in Telles

According to the Daily Mail, Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr are looking to sign Alex Telles.

The club are said to be interested in reuniting Telles – who was on loan at Sevilla last season – with former United striker Cristiano Ronaldo, despite being on a transfer ban at the moment.

Tuchel on Kane interest

Thomas Tuchel insists Bayern Munich will do everything they can to bring in a striker this summer but refused to talk specifically about Harry Kane.

Kane is being linked with a departure from Spurs with one year left on his contract. Two offers for him were rejected at Bayern Munich, and Manchester United also showed interest.

Erik ten Hag made Kane his top target this summer but United effectively waived a deal after Daniel Levy made it clear he would not be selling the striker. The two clubs have turbulent pasts and United have not wanted to deal with Levy, who is known for his clumsy negotiators.

OPINION: United’s £37m trump card in pursuit of Hojlund

When Amad joined Manchester United in October 2020, the high transfer fee he was asking caused a stir.

The youngster had only played for Atalanta’s first-team nine times, starting just three times, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tried to justify the investment by insisting the club currently have “one of the most exciting young talents in the game “ committed.

United paid £19m for Atalanta’s Amad, increasing it to £37m. The deal meant the Italian club received another hefty fee for an academy product after selling Dejan Kulusevski to Juventus for €35m earlier in the year.
