The Northwestern Wildcats have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. Northwestern and the Maryland Terrapins will go head-to-head in a Big Ten bout Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET at SECU Stadium. Maryland should still ride high after a win while the Wildcats will try to fix the ship.
Northwestern was pulverized 42-7 by the Wisconsin Badgers two weeks ago. Northwestern was in a difficult position at halftime with the score already at 28 to nothing. No one had an outstanding offensive game for Northwestern, but they did get a touchdown from RB Anthony Tyus III.
Meanwhile, the Terrapins didn’t have much breathing room in their game against the Indiana Hoosiers last week, but they still walked away with a 38-33 win. Maryland can credit much of their success to RB Roman Hemby, who rushed for a TD and 107 yards on 17 carries, and QB Taulia Tagovailoa, who passed for two TDs and 270 yards on 39 tries, in addition to a rushing touchdown.
The Wildcats need to know they’re going to have an uphill battle given the 14-point margin they’re up against. Those playing the odds have seen things go back and forth with Northwestern who are 2-3 against the spread.
Northwestern had full responsibility when the teams met two seasons earlier and edged Maryland 43-3 at home. The rematch could be a bit more difficult for Northwestern as the squad won’t have home field advantage. Let’s see if the change of location brings anything.
